Way down south in the savannah, there is a pride of lions, all living well in its hot and humid environment. As the burning summer day passed, a lone lioness was making her way back to the pride growling in frustration as she returned with yet another unsuccessful hunt. It wasn’t long before another lioness nearby took notice of her.   
“Hey look who’s coming back from the hunting grounds.” the lioness spoke loudly, just enough for her to hear. The feline that had returned from her hunting trip was Lumina, a light blue lioness who had taken refuge in the pride when she had escaped from her birthplace: the lab. She twitched her ears irritably when she heard her.
Great… here comes the taunting again… no point of walking away now that she saw me coming… she rolled her eyes at her thought and slowly made her way past her.
“Well if it isn’t the blue freak.” the tawny colored lioness mocked.
“What do you want now Evita?” Lumina hissed. She certainly wasn’t in the mood to deal with her, especially after she came back emptied pawed.
“Nothing, i just want to see today’s ‘big catch’.” she said, a taunting smirk on her face. Another lioness came in to join Evita. It was the head lioness, Labilela; she is also one of the most aggressive in the pride. When she saw Lumina she made an exaggerated wince.
“Woah! Ever thought of putting on a big leaf to cover your face? Some of us want to still be able to see.” she spat. “You’re so unnatural. It’s no wonder why Mansa won’t mate with you.”
“Can it will ya?” Lumina said crossly. She really wanted to say that she’ll claw her eyes out in a minute, but she couldn’t say that to a lion who was in a higher rank than her. “I’m outta here,” she said instead and turned to march off.
“Why are you walking away, huh?” Lalibela called out when Lumina had her back to them. “Why can’t you just admit it? Neither Mansa nor any other male will ever want someone like you.” Lumina stopped in her tracks to expose her claws out from her paws and dug at the soft earth, desperately trying to maintain her temper.
“Keep walking you twigleg-made monster!” both Lalibela and Evita broke out laughing. At that moment, Lumina finally snapped. She whirled around and pounced at Lalibela; landing on her back and digging her black claws onto her flesh. Evita gasped in shock for no one ever dared to defy the head lioness, much less attack her. She quickly turned and ran away from the scene, leaving the two cats locked in the fight.
Lalibela whipped her head and sank her teeth onto Lumina’s shoulder, causing her to yowl out in pain. Lumina raked her claws on her back, making the dirty brown feline to loosen her grip on her and fall on her side on the dusty ground. She was writhing beneath the blue lioness, trying to kick her off with her hind legs.
“Take back what you said!” Lumina said in a furious yowl as she jumped back from avoid any further kicking. She felt all the air squeezed out of her as she quickly regained her balance. But moments later Lalibela jumped to her paws and hurled herself at her, claws extended and landed on her stomach.
“How dare you fight me!” she hissed ferociously, swiping Lumina across her chest and arms. “You’re going to pay to even think of opposing me!” she curled her lips into a snarl and showed her long fangs; aiming at her throat. Before she was able to do anything else, there was a deafening roar and the fight immediately ended. They both looked up and saw the head of the whole Asante pride: Mansa. He large red-brown mane shined in the fading sunset as he glared down at the two lionesses. Evita slowly padded up next to him and looked at them uneasily.
“What the hell’s going on here?” Mansa demanded. “Evita told me that you two were fighting. Get up both of you, now.” They both got on their paws and stood up straight. Lalibela was the first to speak.
“Everything was all fine when Lumina suddenly attacked me.” she growled. Lumina looked at her in disbelief.
“That’s a lie!” she protested. “She was constantly insulting me, I didn’t just attack you!” Mansa looked at both of them, his eyes filled with disappointment and disgust.
“You’re both acting like a bunch of whining cubs! Lumina,” he turned to face her. “A couple of taunts do not give you the right to attack our head lioness.” he paused for a moment before he continued. “If you ever fight again with Lalibela or any else in the pride, I’ll send you into exile. We cannot afford to fight in our own pride.” Lumina opened her mouth to argue when she saw the deadly glare in his eyes and said nothing. He then turned his large head towards Lalibela.
“And you. You should know better than to behave like that. Just because you’re my mate doesn’t mean you can abuse your rank as head lioness.” he snapped, his fur slowly bristling in anger. “Keep it up and I’ll strip you from your rank.” With that he turned his back to them and stood there for a moment.
“Now get out of my sight before I lose my temper with both of you!” as they started to make to go to the opposite sides of the Asante’s territory, Lalibela gave Lumina a venomous glare.
“This isn’t over just so you know.” she hissed and stalked away.

Heh, I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.
